First of all, how is it November already? Second, how is everyone doing these days?
I had high hopes to have accomplished a lot by this time of the year, like completing (or almost completing) my 2021 Reading Challenge (I’m 28 books behind) and watching 31 days of horror flicks (again, I barely made it through one movie before I chickened out). While I didn’t accomplish those goals, I did accomplish something personal, like buying a new pair of jeans. I’ve wanted a new pair for a while since I haven’t been able to fit in the ones I already owned, and while it doesn’t seem like a legit goal – it was a goal in my eyes.
I make goals to keep myself in check, but I often venture off and do other things, forgetting about the solid goals I had made earlier this year. For example, I wanted to read 50 books this year. I read maybe ten the previous year, and I thought to myself, “Hey, let’s challenge yourself and try to complete 50 books by the end of 2021.” At the time, I thought this would be totally doable. I probably could have said 20-25 books in hindsight since I struggled to find the right books to read. It took almost an entire year to figure out what I like to read (which surprised me), and now I’m flying through romance, thrillers and sci-fi books like no one’s business.
As for fitting into my jeans? As I said, I’ve made peace and bought a pair that fit me properly. It was probably the hardest thing to deal with because I had to go up a couple of sizes, but that’s just the way it is. It also helped me realize that exercise alone isn’t going to make it better. I needed to be okay with gaining a little bit of weight first. Plus, on the bright side, the jeans look freaking amazing on me.
Here is my list of goals that I hope to accomplish in two months:
- Read 28 books. This is probably the most unattainable goal on the list, which is why it’s going to be number one. Honestly, if I do complete it, you’ll be the first to know!
- Write more. This month would have been a perfect month to start since National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). And I’m not talking about writing a book (which I would like to do one day), but writing a couple of blogs and actually having them ready to post the day BEFORE our posting day. I always complain about writer’s block, but that excuse is getting a little bit old.
- Take more walks. I’ve heard some talk about how their Apple Watch is becoming unhealthy in tracking your progress on standing, movement, and exercise. Still, I would like to complete my November Challenge of walking 70 miles (roughly 112 km). This means more walks and hikes this month for Riven and me!
It seems like a lot to achieve in a couple of months, but I would like to see myself try. It’ll keep me busy, and I hope that this will help me realize that if I don’t meet the goal, it doesn’t mean I have to stop.
